You might wonder how I decided on the name Golden Harbor. It's a good question. For centuries, harbors have represented trust and renewal—safe refuges amid turbulent seas, where risks transform into opportunities and journeys yield lasting value. 


Today's organizations face a similar path to business success. Whether driving returns for investors or advancing a mission, leaders must navigate complexity, volatility, and change while staying true to what matters most. 


The name 'Golden' reflects our focus on value and outcomes, while 'Harbor' symbolizes stability, perspective, and trust. Together, Golden Harbor stands for confidence amid uncertainty—a reliable path from ambition to achievement.

Herb White is a seasoned financial and strategic leader with more than four decades guiding complex organizations through growth, restructuring, and strategic transformation. A former multi‑system Chief Financial Officer and the Founder of Golden Harbor Strategic Advisors, he is recognized for his ability to bring clarity, discipline, and stability to organizations navigating critical inflection points. Boards rely on his judgment, integrity, and collaborative leadership style to strengthen governance, enhance financial resilience, and ensure long‑term value creation.


Herb has led or collaborated on 14 acquisitions and startups, 4 consolidations, and 5 divestitures and closures, consistently converting strategic intent into measurable performance. His expertise spans capital structure optimization, liquidity management, payer strategy, enterprise planning, and the modernization of financial, reporting, and data governance systems. He has rebuilt finance functions, resolved material weaknesses, redesigned reporting frameworks, and strengthened teams across multiple organizations.


As CFO of Hunterdon Health, Herb rebuilt the finance organization, resolved 13 material weaknesses, improved days cash on hand by 27%, enhanced investment returns by 200 basis points, and delivered significant treasury and revenue cycle improvements. At Temple University Health System, he redesigned financial reporting, advanced Medicaid reimbursement strategies, and led initiatives that improved operating performance, strengthened funding mechanisms, and supported major organizational transitions.


Herb’s leadership extends beyond the executive suite. He has served on more than a dozen boards, including chair roles, finance committees, and founding board positions. His governance experience spans healthcare, technology, education, and community organizations, including Philadelphia International Medicine, Health Partners Health Plan, Core Solutions, and multiple ambulatory surgery enterprises. He is valued for his ability to align stakeholders, mentor executives, and support boards through complex decisions involving strategy, risk, capital, and leadership.


Herb is also an educator and thought leader. He serves as Adjunct Faculty in Finance at New York University and previously at Temple University. His speaking engagements include Becker’s Hospital Review, HFMA, and national CFO summits, and he is a published contributor to Jonas & Kovner’s Health Care Delivery in the United States.
